This workshop is suitable for students with some experience who can confidently centre clay and throw cylinders, aged 18+.
This two-day workshop is for students who can confidently centre clay and throw cylinders. Learning to construct teapots will improve your overall throwing skills and techniques.
On day one we will throw the bodies of the teapots, throw flanges and galleries for the lids, and spouts that will be trimmed and attached on the second day of the workshop. Students will learn how to throw off the hump to make their lids, spouts and knobs and those who wish to advance their skills will be encouraged to explore texture and faceting.
On day two, once your pots are trimmed, the final step will be adding handles, pulled, rolled or other creative hand-built techniques will be demonstrated. We will discuss the mechanics of a good teapot, plenty of demonstrations and access to our ceramic library for inspiration.
If you wish to keep any pieces for the firing, these will be charged at £7.00 per kilo for glaze firing or £3.00 to take them home or just bisque fired.
