
Ceramics Workshops
Ceramic workshops run continuously throughout the year, they include wheel throwing, hand building and one-off sessions exploring different techniques, methods or a theme of working with clay. Workshops provide existing and new students time to focus and improve their skills or just have fun working with clay for the first time, they are taught by one our teachers or a guest potter.

New In Focus Workshops for potters
In Focus Workshops for those looking to improve their pottery skills and technique, for students enrolled in one of our courses, members and for all potters working in their own studios. Taking place on Saturday mornings, these workshops are dedicated time to the making process and sessions will span across all areas of working with clay, including hand building, wheel throwing, decoration, glazing and firing.
Brought to you by one of our experienced teachers, they will share their knowledge, provide technical methods and encourage you to dedicate your time to learning the techniques that you can apply to your studio practice. Please take note of the experience level required for each session and that these are aimed at adults 18+.
In Focus Workshop: Slip Decoration
Saturday 1st March, 10am-1pm SOLD OUT
Join us for this half-day workshop to learn the core techniques and gain practical knowledge of decorating your ceramics with coloured slips. Suitable for all levels of experience.
In Focus Workshop: Practical Glazing and Kiln Loading
Saturday 29th March, 10am-2pm
Learn how to get the best results from your dipped and poured glazes in this half-day workshop and enjoy the opportunity visit the kiln room to load your pieces into a glaze fire and understand how firing affects your clay and glaze.
Wind Chimes and Bells Workshop
Saturday 5th April, 10am-1pm
A fun half-day workshop making your own unique ceramic wind chimes and bells using basic hand-building techniques with black, white and terracotta clays. Suitable for beginners and those with experience.
Nerikomi Workshop
One day workshop, 10am-4pm

Join us for this one-day workshop to learn the Japanese method of stacking, slicing and combining different coloured clays together to create beautiful patterns. Suitable for all levels of experience.
In Focus Workshop: Throwing Teapots
Two day workshop
Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June
Join us for this two-day workshop constructing teapots and improve your overall throwing skills and techniques. Here you will throw off the hump to make the lids, spouts and knobs and combine creative hand building techniques to add the handles. Suitable for those who can confidently centre clay and throw cylinders.
Animal Sculpture Workshop with Jack Durling

Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June
Join us this June as guest ceramic sculptor Jack Durling teaches the techniques and processes involved in creating his inspiring animal sculptures. Suitable for those who already have some experience working with clay.
Throwing Large Workshop with Tanya Gomez
Two day workshop
Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July
Join Tanya Gomez in this two-day workshop to learn the methods and techniques for preparing, centering and throwing larger pieces of work. Suitable for intermediate and advance throwers who can already centre at least 1kg of clay.
Slipware Workshop with Dylan Bowen
Two day workshop
Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th October
Join us this October as teacher Dylan Bowen introduces you to simple hand building techniques with earthenware clay and demonstrates how he uses slip to create his own expressive and dynamic work.
