Nerikomi Workshop with Lara Hailey

This workshop is suitable for beginners and intermediates aged 16+.

This Nerikomi workshop is for all levels of experience who want to learn this Japanese method of stacking, slicing and combining different coloured clays together to create beautiful patterns.

In the morning you will learn how to prepare the clay by mixing different coloured pigments into the clay. In the afternoon you will learn how to combine and layer the coloured clay, to create a variety of different patterns that will be rolled out into slabs and applied to a plaster mould to create small plates and bowls.

Each piece will be unique, with no two patterns ever the same. You can expect to make about 3 pieces, which will be fired and ready to collect 3-4 weeks after the workshop.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:

All of the tools, equipment, clay and pigment will be provided and includes 2 firings.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU:

Bring a small hand towel and apron and any additional tools you wish to use.

Lunch is not provided but there are several cafes and restaurants in the area. The beach is located directly across from the studio and if the weather is suitable is a perfect spot to have lunch and a swim in the sea.

Please ensure you can attend the workshop you have booked as we cannot offer refunds less than 14 days notice, unless we are able to fill your place with another student. Please get in touch and we will do our best.
