Ceramics Studio - Membership and Add On Class

We have open access membership in our dedicated members room, 7 days a week from 7am-9pm, which provides the opportunity to work on your own in a supportive, creative and well-equipped studio. Open access membership will be suitable for those who are able work confidently and independently without the need of tution.

The members room is well equipped for hand builders and wheel throwing and access to all of our slips and glazes, studio equipment, moulds and extruder. You must have a minimum of 1 year of taking classes with our studio or equivalent elsewhere or a practice with good knowledge of working with clay and glazing. For the safety of our kilns, equipment and other students work members must have this experience.

Members have priority booking for our workshops and courses, the opportunity to become a studio assistant through work-exchange and take part in selling opportunities and exhibitions that will take place in the studio or at other local businesses.

Please note that the studio cannot accommodate production potters who wish to use the studio as a means of commercial activity. There is limited kiln space and we cannot accommodate large quantities of work to be fired.

Prospective studio members must arrange a in person meeting to discuss your experience, please get in touch. There is currently a wait list, please email.

WHY DO I NEED EXPERIENCE TO BECOME A MEMBER

Understanding clay and glazing is a process that takes time through practice and experience. With time spent in a shared studio and good teaching, successful and long lasting results will be achieved once you begin to work independently. Students and members will share the same kiln firings and those with little experience in their making can cause explosions and glaze runs that can damage to their fellow makers work and our kilns and equipment.

ADD ON CLASS- FOR THOSE CURRENTLY ENROLLED ON COURSES

Is suitable for those currently enrolled in one of our courses and wish to have extra time working on their own. During these sessions you will need to work independently and teaching will not be provided. These sessions offer the extra time needed for you to practice and refine your skills outside your regular weekly classes. Booking is for one 3-hour session each week Monday-Thursday 10am-1pm or 6-9pm and on Fridays mornings 10am-1pm.

Cost per 3-hour session: £29.00
