Wheel Throwing Ceramics Courses

Starting on Monday 6th Janaury 2025, these are 12-week wheel throwing ceramic courses, with a one week break inbetween (17th - 21st Feb). These courses are for adults only (age 18+) and suitable for beginners and all levels of experience.

Each class will host up to 9 students and will be taught in a fun and relaxing environment. Every student has their own wheel and you will learn how to throw, trim, decorate and glaze your pieces according to your experience and skill level.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

WHAT TO WEAR / BRING WITH YOU:

Wear old clothing and closed toe shoes, shirts which you can roll up your sleeves- you will get dirty. We recommend to bring a full-length apron which you can wash at home. You may also want to bring a small hand towel.

 

CORONAVIRUS SAFETY MEASURES:

We have recently updated our safety measures in line with the latest government advice. Face masks are no longer mandatory and we support the students and teachers who wish to continue wearing face coverings.

 

PAYMENT / IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

The cost of this course includes all tools, materials and equipment but does not include the cost of firing. Payments must be made in full in order to book a course. The cost of firing will be charged at £6 per 1kg for fired ceramics (for example a cup is about a £1).

Please ensure you can attend the class you have booked as we cannot offer refunds less than 14 days notice unless we are able to fill your place with another student, please get in touch and we will do our best. Once courses begin we cannot issue refunds. All of our courses are full so we are not able to offer make up classes or switch into other class dates. It’s important that you are able to attend the first 2 sessions as these are progressive classes.

We reserve the right to cancel our courses, taster sessions and workshops. We will endeavour to book you onto an alternative course or offer a refund.

Our new shino glaze on buff clay and the speckled clay available to our members. For our students, we will introduce a speckled slip so you can get the same effect of the speckled clay. #stleonardsceramics
Our newest glaze is a fake shino. Sometimes it's a bit orange, sometimes more white. Shino glazes are unpredictable in a reduction firing, but beautiful, so this one should be more reliable in the electric oxidation kilns we have. It will be perfect
